The Zambia National Service (ZNS) is a defence force wing that is mandated
to train citizens to serve the republic, develop infrastructure, enhance
national food security and contribute to the social economic development.
The Zambia national service headquarters comprises command, five (05)
branches and five (05) directorates namely :-
Administration Branch.
Training, Operations and Communication Branch.
Logistics Branch.
Production Branch.
Land Development Branch.
Functions
The functions are as follows :-
Direction, coordination and conduct of all military operations.
Training of citizens and service personnel as determined by the Government
of the Republic of Zambia and Administration branch.
Provision and maintenance of the communication systems within the service.
Liaison with other services and security wings on matters of defence and
security.
Employment of its members in tasks of national importance e.g. Disaster
management and mitigation.
Defence of the Republic and Agricultural production.
